Our Garage is Empty, But Our Freezer is Full!

Well ladies and gents - I sold my car. I was a little sad. Not a whole lot, but a little. I've had it listed for several weeks and had lots of interest, but no one actually come to see it. Thursday, a guy called, said he would be in Midwest City at 2:00 and the deal was done by 3:00. If you have ever spent time in public with me, you probably know that I am the biggest tight wad ever... and not just your normal cheapskate that will only buy things on sale or hand-me-downs, etc. I actually have an anxiety disorder that is triggered by any talk of money.

Charlie and I have been talking about buying a new car for a little over a year now. I decided the non-commital first step would be to sell my car. Non-commital because Charlie drives the school ag truck 98% of the time while his personal truck sits in our garage and gets driven on a schedule to keep the battery from dying. So if I sold my car, I could drive his truck, and never have to actually commit to buying a car.

At this point, you might ask - how in the world did you buy a house?? Well you see, the alternative (renting) was so horrific that the anxious part of my brain saw what needed to be done. Car - different.

I decided there was no harm in going to the car dealership and actually test-driving the car I keep telling everyone I'm going to buy. The heated leather seats, push button start, electronic everything, smooth ride, and brand new smell were enough to persuade Charlie, but not me. Although, it was a step in the right direction, I think.

I suppose sometime in the next couple of months I will probably have a new car - only time will tell. But, I am certainly enjoying all the extra room in the garage to play/spray paint/park that huge truck I'm not used to driving.

The Choctaw FFA's Blue-and-Gold order came... and only SOME of the kids took their orders home with them over Fall Break... the rest came to live in our tiny freezer.

Chicken strips, sausage, bacon...
This week was our Fall Break. We got Wednesday thru Friday off - SO NICE! We went to Stillwater on Tuesday, and I took my mom to work on Wednesday and spent the day with her. I've been complaining about the price of barstools for 3 months. (The barstools that match our dining table are $65 a piece!!) My brilliant mother reminded me that Garden Ridge has all of that kind of stuff. I found some CUTE, simple barstools that still match our dining room table. Love them!

The best part - they were only $50 for the pair!

I've had this amazing vanity for several years...
I bought it at Mathis Brothers in the "AS IS" room - originally $900, I bought it for $120 because the edges are a little scuffed. It actually makes it look like an antique.

I have been needing the perfect amount of light for this area so that I can sit at it in the morning without turning on the overhead light. I have had a mini chandelier for several years, and I finally got around to hanging it. I had to hang it a little close to the wall because of the pitch of the ceiling, but I love it!

With the over head light off - it still gives a lot of light!!
Hope you all are enjoying the last days of October!
